Accolade Wines' Banrock station brand has announced the launch of flat wine bottles made of 100% recycled plastic.
Its weight is only one tenth of that of a glass bottle, and its volume is 40% smaller
According to accolade wines, the 750 mL (75cl) flat bottle is made of 100% recycled PET (RPET) plastic.
Compared with the use of primary plastic, the wine bottle production process can save 75% energy consumption and achieve 79% emission reduction. The bottles can also be recycled and passed the carbon neutralization certification.
According to Banrock station, the bottle weighs 63 grams, which is 87% lighter than conventional glass bottles, thus greatly saving carbon dioxide in the logistics supply chain.
In addition, due to the flat design of wine bottles, the overall volume of wine bottles is 40% smaller than that of conventional glass bottles, which means that the number of wine bottles can be twice as much as that of glass bottles on the logistics pallet of the same size.
Lindsay holas, brand manager of accolade wines, said: "we always pay attention to the concept of environmental protection. Our goal is to encourage consumers to do" good things "for themselves and the earth. At the same time, we actively respond to retailers' demand for green products. As far as we know, 62% of consumers say they prefer to buy goods from sustainable brands, while 37% of global consumers are influenced by the business conduct when they buy wine products. "
He added, "the use of these flat wine bottles represents a big step in accolade wine's environmental journey, and we are committed to responsible management from the vineyard to the consumer. By launching recycled PET bottles, we and retailers can target more young consumers who are more environmentally conscious and more aware of the future of the planet. "
